Country Meadows Justice Precinct
The jurisdiction of the Country Meadows Justice Court is the boundaries by which the court has power to hear a case. Below you will find a map of the court’s jurisdiction.

What is a Justice Court?
A justice court is a court that can handle any type of crime that is a misdemeanor. If you have been charged with a felony, it is out of the jurisdiction of the justice court and must be handled by the Maricopa County Superior Court.
Justice courts also handle civil lawsuits (private lawsuits between individuals) where the amount in dispute is less than $10,000.
One thing that is different about justice courts, is that the judges are called Justices of the Peace. Justices of the peace are elected officials and they are voted into their office for four-year terms. Justices of the peace are not required to be licensed attorneys and many of them are not.
That means that the prosecutor, the individual that is fighting to get the largest penalty against you, has more training than the judge hearing your case. Also, many times, without a lawyer, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will not deviate from the punishment listed in the law you violated. Having an attorney that is skilled at negotiation and spotting legal issues is imperative.
Justice of the Peace
The justice of the peace for Country Meadows is Anna Huberman. Judge Huberman is the current Justice of the Peace of the Year. She was elected the Justice of the Peace in 2012 and has served since that time. She was recently re-elected for her third term in 2020.
Prior to becoming a justice of the peace, Judge Huberman was a court interpreter for the Maricopa County Superior Court for 15 years. Women should wear a dress or dress pants with a dress shirt and a suit jacket or cardigan. No shorts, leggings or jeans should be worn.
If your hearing is virtually and you do not have to attend in person, you should still dress as set forth above. Be sure to remain in one spot for the entire hearing. Do not drive around while the hearing is taking place. Make sure you are in a quiet spot as well.
